- Eden Hazard has refused to rule out a move away from Stamford Bridge

- La Liga giants Real Madrid remain the playmaker's top suitors

- Hazard has, however, since made it clear that he will finish this year with the Blues

Chelsea playmaker, Eden Hazard, has rekindled the possibility of exiting Stamford Bridge for a move to La Liga giants, Real Madrid.

Hazard has widely been linked with a move away, with the Belgian star revealing talks over a new deal with Chelsea have collapsed.

The star winger divulged after the 2018 World Cup in Russia that he will consider his future at Chelsea, having enjoyed an illustrious career with the West London club.

According to a report by the UK Metro, Blues' chiefs have been exploring the option of extending Hazard's stay at the club after successfully convincing the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and N’Golo Kante to pen new deals.

In an exclusive interview with French radio station RMC, Hazard refused to rule out a move away from Chelsea, before disclosing contract discussions between him and the club have stalled.

"There was a bit of talk [with Chelsea] but then it stopped, now we’re waiting," the Belgian said.
"The family is in London, I’m also going to be 28. I do not want to have any regrets at the end of my career. It’s a decision I’m going to make, I do not know when, but I’ll take it," he added

The 27-year-old further expressed his admiration for Real Madrid, thus opening the door to a possible transfer to the La Liga side.

"You know me, I’ve always loved Real, even before [Zinedine] Zidane, we’ll see what happens," he observed.
"As I said, I’m already finishing this year with Chelsea, I still have a year of contract after this year, we’ll see," he continued.

With 18 months left on his contract with Chelsea and showing no intent to commit his future in England, the Premier League club may be forced to cash in next summer rather than losing him for nothing.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard explained that he is not worried about not winning the 2018 Ballon D'Or which was won by Real Madrid star Luka Modric in Paris.

The Belgian football star finished as eight best in the 2018 Ballon d'Or, and has made it clear that he is thinking more than winning the Ballon d'Or award.

This season, Eden Hazard has been impressive for Chelsea in all competitions, and there have been reports that Real Madrid want his signature next year.

“We have issued statements to these governors owing salaries, informing them that they cannot go anywhere to enjoy the monies they have carted away. They will be disgrace and chases away.”

Soyinka reacts to Buhari being cloned, laments stolen identity

- Professor Wole Soyinka has cried out about his identity being stolen on Facebook for personal business purpose in Poland

- The award-winning writer spoke barely a week after President Muhammadu Buhari cleared dust on his identity

- He also stressed on the need for press freedom, adding that issue of stolen identity should not be taken with levity

Award-winning international writer, Professor Wole Soyinka, has raised an alarm over his identity being stolen and used by a Nigerian in Poland for business purpose.

In a report available in Vanguard, the alarm from the Nobel Laureate came barely a week after President Muhammadu Buhari cleared the dust surrounding his identity when he was addressing Nigerians in Poland.

Legit.ng gathers that Soyinka, addressing a cross section of audience at Freedom Park in an event marking the 70th anniversary of human rights and worldwide reading for press freedom in memory of Jamal Khashoggi, stressed on the need to take the issue of stolen identity with seriousness.

READ ALSO: NAIJ.com upgrades to Legit.ng: a letter from our Editor-in-Chief Bayo Olupohunda

He said: "Recently, we have a situation in Nigeria and that is the issue of cloning President Muhammadu Buhari. We have people who have taken that issue seriously. These were people that one can never believe to accept such considering their level of intelligence.

“When Buhari went to Poland, I said what a coincidence because I hope while he was there, he will be able to sort-out his identity and there will be a report on the return of his identity.

“Poland appears to be the centre for Nigerians settlers with stolen identity.”

Soyinka said upon discovery that his identity was being used in Poland, he visited the country and demanded that the page using his identity on Facebook be pulled down.

He said: "But he (operator of the business) refused, claiming that he has authority to do that. In my name, this fellow sells and buys things which I don’t even use."

Speaking on press freedom, the Nobel Laureate noted that the right has been abused with the emergence of social media. He, however, said that the freedom to press and expression should not be taken with levity and should be guaranteed.

He said: "If we must fight for freedom of expression, we must fight for the correct attribution of expression.

“If the doctrine of freedom of expression was to be reversed, there will be certainly a number of issues to be addressed because expression on social media has taken a quantum leave in the last few years that cannot be imagined."

Professor Soyinka, however, criticised the ill intentions of some politicians as their reasons for dumping one political party for another.

Kwara APC, PDP bicker over Tradermoni intervention programme

- The APC and PDP have been bickering over the federal government's TraderMoni Programme

- PDP said the launch of SIP by the vice president is nothing but a jamboree

- However, the APC accused the opposition of speaking out of ignorance and sentiment because it is never a masses-oriented party

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State have in squabble over the Social Investment Programme launched by the federal government.

Following the out come of the programme in the state, the Kwara spokesperson for PDP, Tunde Ashaolu said the launch of SIP by the vice president is notghing but a jamboree.

Ashaolu said: “The purported launching of the scheme on Friday in Ilorin by Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was nothing but a political jamboree.”

The Nation reports that the PDP alleged that the identification and selection of beneficiaries of the scheme was marred by political interference.

PDP also said that majority of those who were selected were not genuine traders and artisans but members and supporters of the APC.

“It is improper and very disturbing that a Federal Government-financed programme has been turned into a party programme," Ashaolu said.

“As a government initiative, we expected that all eligible Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, would benefit from it. But unfortunately, this has not been the case with Tradermoni. The Federal Government has failed to ensure equitable participation of all Nigerians in the scheme.

“Furthermore, we note that the distribution of such funds at this period of electioneering is a deliberate ploy by the Federal Government and the APC to induce voters ahead of the forthcoming elections.

“We also wish to state that unlike the APC-led Federal Government that is coming to distribute cash to people few weeks to the elections under the guise of empowerment, the state government has always provided assistance to small and medium business owners in the state, including market women, traders and artisans.

“We, therefore, call on market women, traders and artisans in the state not to be deceived by the political gimmick of the APC-controlled Federal Government that has not provided any assistance for them in the last three and a half years.

“The APC and Federal Government should also know that no amount of political gimmicks and propaganda will deter the people of Kwara State from supporting (Senate President) Bukola Saraki and the PDP," he added.

However, in his reaction, the chairman of the APC in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa said the programme was not launched based on political loyalty or affiliation.

Bolarinea through his media aide, Sabo Odeyemi said: “Tradermoni of the APC-led administration in the country was never planned nor executed based on party loyalty or political affiliation and it is not being carried out for the sake of electioneering campaign purposes."

He also accused the opposition of speaking out of ignorance and sentiment because it is never a masses-oriented party.

“It is good enough for the PDP to come out of ignorance and sentiment because the party has made the issue to become an accused turning to become the accuser.

“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been moving round the country since two years ago for this Tradermoni scheme as the entire country is the constituency of the Federal Government," he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that hoodlums allegedly invaded the Mandate Market in Ilorin, Kwara state, on Thursday, December 6, scared away petty traders and TraderMoni agents; disrupting the disbursement of money to beneficiaries of the scheme.

As early as 9 am, the hoodlums allegedly stormed the Mandate Market, insisting that the TraderMoni scheme could not be conducted.

It was not clear whether they were sent by anyone or whether they were working on their own as witnesses, including Bank of Industry (BOI) officials who were at the market to supervise the enumeration and disbursement of the N10,000 collateral free loans, the arrival of the mob at Mandate Market caused some uproar.

PDP speaks on Doyin Okupe's arrest, demands his immediate release

- The Peoples Democratic Party has requested for the immediate and unconditional release of its chieftain, Doyin Okupe, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission

- The party said the arrest is part of grand plot to escalate the clampdown on opposition leaders

- PDP wondered why the commission has not invited or questioned officials of the presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party Tuesday, December 11, asked Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to free the media adviser to the director general of the party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe from its custody.

This Day reports that the PDP wondered why the commission has not invited or questioned officials of the presidency and national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, over allegations of corruption.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s spokesman. The statement read: “This arrest is part of the grand plot to escalate the clampdown on opposition leaders, in an attempt to cow and subjugate them as the elections draw nearer, a scheme the PDP had since alerted the nation about.

READ ALSO: NLC to place governors owing salaries, pensions on watch list

“The PDP invites Nigerians to note that the EFCC was unleashed on Okupe with fabricated charges, just because of his criticisms of the misrule of the Buhari administration, particularly, his last Wednesday’s demand to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare President Buhari as not validly nominated as a Presidential candidate for the 2019 elections.”

“It is indeed unfortunate that the EFCC, under President Buhari, has been turned to a militant wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to hound, intimidate, harass and even extort money from opposition leaders and other Nigerians perceived to be opposed to Mr. President’s ill-fated re-election bid.”

PDP further asked, “Why has the EFCC not invited the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and President Buhari’s close relatives, who were recently mentioned by a suspect, Amina Mohammed, as being involved in serial looting of public resources?”

The party said instead of using their so-called technology and intelligence to “harass and extort money from innocent, harmless and law-abiding citizens”, EFCC officials should join the security agencies and deploy their technology in the fight against terrorism in the northeast.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the media adviser to the director general of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe, has reportedly been detained by the EFCC.

PDP's spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, announced Okupe's arrest in a tweet on late evening of Monday, December 10.

Ologbondiyan in a tweeted said it was a season of assault, harassment and intimidation for the members of the opposition PDP.

Arsenal join Liverpool in race to sign French football star as Aaron Ramsey's 'replacement'

- Arsenal seem to have found a replacement for Aaron Ramsey whose contract expires next year

- They are plotting to beat fellow EPL sides Liverpool and Man City to the signature of Lyon star Houssem Aouar

- He has been superb for his French side since the start of this season scoring five goals in all competitions so far

Arsenal have reportedly joined in the race to land French youngster Houssem Aouar as a replacement for outgoing Aaron Ramsey.

The 27-year-old's current deal expires at the end of this season but the Gunners chief are not willing to hand him an extension.

READ ALSO: Chelsea suspend 4 fans who racially abused Raheem Sterling in Man City's win

However, Unai Emery has made the Olympique Lyon midfielder priority signing when the January transfer window opens.

Aouar has scored five goals and created one assist in 16 French League matches this season - a feat that has attracted interests from Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to SunSport, the 20-year-old is an all round midfielder who came through ranks in the French League.

The publication also revealed that Pep Guardiola was impressed with the youngster's performance in their 2-2 Champions League draw late last month.

Meanwhile, City chiefs are set to make contact with the French side to enquire about the young midfielder.

France Football reports that Arsenal are particularly keen, as Emery knows all about the youngster's versatility from his spell at Paris Saint-Germain and thinks he would be a boost to his new side.

While Arsenal may have gone on an impressive unbeaten run, they are currently just outside of a European spot.

The Gunners would need the financial boost of a Champions League spot in order to secure the youngster's services, as a £40 million transfer fee has been floated for Aouar.

Whereas City have deeper pockets and the pull of Guardiola.

The French midfielder has made his admiration for the City coach known, he said: "He's a fascinating coach with convictions and motivations, a coach who knows what he wants.

"We all share the same views about football, but I also share his opinions and the way he plays with his team. "So it would be nice to be coached by someone like him."

The Lyon hotshot was stopped by Guardiola in the tunnel after their teams met, as the Spaniard wanted to show his appreciation for Aouar's performance, where he had dictated the midfield with 62 passes and five tacklers.

PAY ATTENTION: NAIJ.com upgrades to Legit.ng

Guardiola went on a charm offensive in his press conference after the game, he said: "Houssem Aouar is a very good player, he is incredible.

"We talk a lot about Ndombele but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.

Aouar isn't the only player that Premier League clubs could end up fighting over.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been monitoring the situation between Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona over the past few months.

But Lionel Messi appear to discourage any further talk over his future this weekend when he said "we need Dembele."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League side Chelsea were ready to sign Olympique Lyonnais star Houssem Aouar.

French media outfit RMC Sport revealed that the midfielder has been identified by the Blues boss Maurizio Sarri as a January target.

The 20-year-old has been in amazing form in club competitions this season scoring five Ligue 1 goals and making three assists in the Champions League.

Top ten richest countries on the African continent in 2018

$

From over 50 African countries, it could be difficult to name the wealthiest ones at first glance. It is evident that citizens of each territory would wish his or her motherland to be number 1. Checkout the official figures and see the top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018.

Top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018

Which country is the richest?

We will use the statistic reports shared by IMF (this is International Monetary Fund that closely follows all the changes and measures the wealth of this or that country by its GDP per capita).

What is GDP? These three letters stand for Gross Domestic Product. IMF uses the standard GDP per capita to measure economic development of different nations, and these numbers make it possible to understand the local standard of living. This will give us a better picture of the top 10 richest countries in Africa now.

Top ten richest countries in Africa now

The ranking of top 10 richest countries in Africa 2018 is based on IMF data shared by the official International Monetary Fund website in the report called 'GDP per capita.

1. Republic of Seychelles

Seychelles as one of the top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018

Seychelles; photo: afrotourism.com

This is an interesting country that contains 115 islands and is located in Eastern Africa. Being the smallest nation in terms of population (it is less than 100,000 people), Seychelles boasts impressive GDP per capita of over 16,000 U.S. dollars and Number 1 title as the richest African country this year.

Being surrounded by the beautiful Indian Ocean, Seychelles is attractive to tourists from all over the world. Its residents also earn enough money through industrial fishing.

2. Republic of Equatorial Guinea

This might not be a big country since its area is about 28 thousand square kilometers. However, this place in Central Africa is currently the second wealthiest country in Africa. Its GPD per capita reaches over 15,200 U.S. dollars.

How is it possible? Well, firstly, its population is relatively low at only about slightly over 1 million residents. Secondly, this territory is rich in oil and different valuable minerals. These two factors play a big role in calculation its GDP.

3. Republic of Mauritius

Just like Seychelles, this African country also lives on the islands in the Indian Ocean. The country is not too big, but its nation is great at producing goods, making sugar, textile and other popular products that positively influence the local economy.

Tourists also love visiting this place. No wonder that is GDP per capita is slightly over 11,000 U.S. dollars.

4. Gabonese Republic

It looks like the neighborhood of the richest country in Africa, Equatorial Guinea also influences the economy and life of Gabon. Being also a rather small country with about 2 million citizens, this place makes good money from oil production.

Thanks to oil and international investments into the petroleum sector, this African state can offer rational standards of living to its countrymen with Gross Domestic Product per capita reaching over 8,000 U.S. dollars.

5. Republic of Botswana

Unlike some other African countries from our list of top ten richest countries on our continent, Botswana is locked in land and has no access to the ocean. Still, such location doesn’t harm its economy and the life of approximately 2 million people who live here.

The Gross Domestic Product per capita here is closer to 8,000 U.S. dollars, which can be easily explained by the minerals found on its territory. Botswana is a heaven of diamonds, and many local residents are producing these precious stones and exporting them all over the world.

6. State of Libya

Libya is one of the biggest African countries by territory that covers more than 1.8 million square kilometers. It is also one of the top 20 largest countries on the planet. It is rich in oil, and this industry actually accounts for more than 50 percent of its GDP.

This state located in the Northern part of the continent currently boasts nice GDP per capita of 6,600 U.S. dollars. This is understood because Libya has the biggest oil reserve in Africa.

7. Republic of South Africa

This nation boasts a well-developed economy if compared to other countries on the continent. Many billionaires live here, and the local economy is really large closely following Nigeria that also has huge GDP.

However, unlike in Nigeria, the GDP per capita in South Africa is also nice reaching over 6,500 U.S. dollars. And this makes it attractive to investors and adds to our selection of the top 10 richest countries on our ranking.

8. Republic of Namibia

Having direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, Namibia used to be dependent on South Africa. However, it has been independent for the last 28 years, and its economy keeps growing and blooming.

The local economy depends on the production and export of uranium, diamonds, and other minerals. Thus the GDP per capita is good over 5,900 U.S. dollars.

9. People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria

Algeria as one of top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018

Algeria; photo: africa.com

This place is located in the Northwest of Africa with access to the Mediterranean Sea. It is a huge country that is not just one of the top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018 but also one of the 10 largest countries on our planet (by territory).

The country is rich in fossil fuels and exports energy to other countries, thus it can boast an awesome GDP per capita of nearly 4,450 U.S. dollars.

10. Republic of Angola

READ ALSO: Top 20 richest countries in Africa

Angola as one of Top 10 richest countries in Africa in 2018

Angola; photo: africa.com

This country is also pretty big coming in the 7th place. It has enough petroleum and mineral reserves to grow local economy quickly (however, this growth is extremely uneven). At the same time, many people who originate from Angola do not boast a high standard of living.

Local GDP per capita is approximately 3,920 U.S. dollars, which is still good if compared to many other African countries.

P.S. As you can see, Nigeria is not one of the 10 richest countries in Africa right now, and so aren't Egypt, Congo, Tunisia, Morocco, and many other countries.

Now Nigerians know which country is the richest on our continent in 2018. We should just mention at last that Nigeria would have been on the 15th place if we continued our ranking to the top 20 wealthiest African countries now. Nigerian GDP per capita, based on the same IMF report, is approximately 2,000 U.S. dollars.

- Emerging reports have claimed that Senate went into executive session over the confirmation of four new members of the EFCC

- The four nominees presented for confirmation are: Ndasule Moses, Lawan Mamman, Galadanci Imam Najib, and Adeleke Adebayo Rafiu

- At the executive session, the Senate, however, agreed that the confirmation of the EFCC nominees should be suspended for further legislative input

Few minutes after the Senate chamber was thrown into a rowdy session as lawmakers disagreed over the confirmation of four new members of EFCC, the legislators suspended the confirmation of four persons nominated as members of the commission.

The Punch reports that the Senate committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes presented to the Plenary its finding on the four nominees, lawmakers from the southeast and the south south were “not accommodated” in the commission.

The four nominees presented for confirmation are: Ndasule Moses, Lawan Mamman, Galadanci Imam Najib, and Adeleke Adebayo Rafiu. They were nominated as members of the EFCC, and need to be confirmed by the National Assembly.

At the plenary, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, presented the report of the committee concerning the confirmation of the nominees.

Senator Barnabas Gemade seconded the motion asking the Senate to consider the report. Another senator, Victor Umeh, noted that “the nominees have very rich, vital skills and experience.”

He, however, noted that only one of the nominees was from the southwest, while the acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, is from the north.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nigerian senators had to adjourn sitting for Tuesday, November 13, as members reportedly stayed away from plenary.

As a result, the upper legislative chamber could not form the required quorum for the day’s activity Premium Times reports that the senators adjourned the plenary for a week.

According to the report, the senators had gathered for the day’s business when one of them, Philip Aduda, a member of the PDP representing Abuja, called the attention of his colleagues to the fact that a quorum was not formed.

Comedian AY blasts Nollywood shortly after Kevin Ikeduba called actors in the industry fake

- Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun better known as AY, recently blasted the Nigerian film industry

- According to him, entertainers in Nollywood have no love for themselves as rivalry is the order of the day

- This is coming shortly after actor, Kevin Ikeduba, revealed that the industry has the most fake set of people

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been trailed by several rumours of not being supportive of one another despite showcasing fake love on social media.

Recently, there was news of ailing Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan, who is at risk of losing his two legs due to an accident he was involved in two years ago. His plight was publicised on the internet by some well-meaning Nigerians.

Perhaps for this reason some people in the industry have been moved to speak up on how actors do not love and support each other.

Popular comedian, Ayo ‘AY’ Makun, took to his Instagram handle to reveal what he has discovered about Nollywood since his short time in the industry.

According to him, being fake and hidden rivalry has become the order of the day. He wrote:

“As a growing actor and a movie producer, NOLLYWOOD has exposed me to both the good, the bad and ugly.Barely few years in the industry, i have experienced all sorts from the stables of the high and mighty self entitled 'stakeholders', to the very insecured individuals whose only claim to fame is an old testament fact of "We started this industry".The above post by @kevinikeduba, has given me the courage to further introduce you to our Nollywood.

"So welcome to an industry where rivalry and fakeness is fast becoming a legacy designed for posterity. Welcome to a backstabbing community where some pretend to love you in the open and condemn all your determination and efforts to succeed when you are not there. Welcome to an industry where enmity reigns supreme... Eg "If you are using her in the movie, then i can't be on it", or "i can't be in your film and not play the lead role".

READ ALSO: Personal letter from the Editor-in-Chief of Legit.ng (formerly NAIJ.com)

"Welcome to an industry where some actors have more visible roles on Instagram and Red Carpets. Welcome to an industry where some would maintain a position that would make you keep to yourself rather than ask for a selfie. Welcome to an industry where some cannot use their platforms to help another colleague to promote his or her work(including the ones they are contracted for).

"Welcome to an industry where most families mainly depend on public support when one of our own falls sick. Welcome to an industry where some engages themselves daily on WhatsApp groups chatting about how others have no business making movies (even when they break their own records back to back).

"Moving the industry forward goes beyond seeking for the downfall of others, or basking in the euphoria of an old glory that has been taken over by trend and time."

He further explained that things can be better if they help one another.

"Above all, i still see Nollywood as a special place; a place filled with creative geniuses.Working together and supporting ourselves can only make greater arts happen to the diverse audiences we all set out to entertain. But at the end of each plastic characters that comes with movie productions, let's find a way to share our real side. It’ll either scare away every fake person in our life or it will inspire them to finally let go of that mirage called "perfection"," he said.

AY's lengthy post came shortly after another Nollywood actor, Kevin Ikeduba, posted a video where he blasted the fake practices in the industry.

Hopefully after this call out, things would change for the better in the industry.
