- A Kenya-based biologist, Dr. Nicholas Pilfold and his group planted a series of camera in Loisaba Conservancy, where the rare big cat was captured

- The juvenile female cat was spotted traveling with a larger, normally coloured leopard, presumed to be her mother

Reports reaching Legit.ng reveal that a black panther has been spotted in Kenya, making it the first of its kind in a century.

It was gathered that Kenya-based biologist, Dr. Nicholas Pilfold got a wave of news of the rare species lurking around Loisaba Conservancy and wasted no time planting cameras around the location with the help of his team.

In no time, the big cat showed up and the photo is currently making waves on social media. It is known that the juvenile female panthera pardus was spotted traveling with a larger, normally coloured leopard, presumed to be its mother.

The rare species is also known to be a melanistic leopard. Their existence have been reported in and around Kenya for for decades. How National Geographic reports that scientific confirmation of their existence remains rare.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian lady took to sharing the story of how she was able to rescue a nearly extinct sea turtle from being eaten by Nigerians.

The lady whose name on Instagram is Doyinsola Ogunye took to defending a sea turtle who had come ashore from becoming meat for many. According to Doyin, an environmentalist and anti-poacher of sorts, the sea animal had only come to land to give birth.
