Adewale Oloyede, a retired deputy controller general of prisons, has been murdered alongside his orderly, Dauda Yusuf Michael, a senior inspector of prisons (SIP) by some unknown gunmen in Kogi.

The spokesman of the Nigerian Prisons Service, (NPS) Francis Enobore, revealed this in Abuja on Monday, February 4, Vanguard reports.
Enobore further disclosed that Oloyede was on his way to Lagos in his vehicle on Friday, February 1, when the assailants attacked him.
The spokesman stated: “A medical doctor by profession, the late officer headed the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare for several years before retiring in 2007.
“Until his demise, Oloyede was a member of the National Stakeholders Committee on Prisons Reform and De-congestion under the chairmanship of the Federal Capital Territory Chief Judge, Honorable Justice Ishaq Bello.

“As relevant authorities progress in their investigation, it is our collective prayers that the perpetrators will be arrested soonest and brought to book.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Ogun state command of the NPS had said prison inmates numbering 35 had registered in the state for the 2018 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) of the National Examination Council (NECO).
This was contained in a statement signed on Tuesday, November 12, by its spokesperson, Victor Oyeleke.
Legit.ng gathered that the inmates would be writing the examinations in the Old Abeokuta Prison, Ibara, which was approved as the centre.
