- Even though the proposal did not take place in the school, a spokesman for the school says she undermined the school by that singular action

- The young man in question is reportedly going to face disciplinary actions in his school as well

While a lot of countries have evolved and are known to allow public display of affection, there are still very conservative countries deeply rooted in religion, that consider such things as punishable crimes. One of which is Egypt where a varsity is currently trending after expelling a lady for hugging her partner.

The school, Al-Azhar university, justified their decision as they accused her of undermining its reputation after she appeared in the video hugging a male colleague, the same person who proposed to her, seconds before.

In the video which went viral online in the predominantly Muslim country, shows a man carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling in front of a young woman, before hugging her in what appeared to be a marriage proposal. The event took place at Mansoura University in the country's north.

Despite the fact that it didn't occur in the school, the disciplinary council of the Al-Azhar University campus in Mansoura on Saturday 'decided to expel the young girl definitively', according to the university spokesman Ahmed Zarie.

According to him, the video caused a public outcry and the school's decision stands because she created a 'bad image' of Al-Azhar University, which strictly segregates the genders. The spokesman stated that hugging between unmarried men and women violates 'the values and principles of society'.

According to a spokesman for Mansoura University, the young man who appeared in the video could also face sanctions, revealing that the school's disciplinary council will meet soon to decide his punishment.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia took a step in progressive moves in the year 2018 after they finally passed a law which now allows women drive. The royal decree was issued on Tuesday, September 26..

The Saudi Foreign ministry revealed this via its official Twitter account.According to Saudi Press Agency, the first group of women received their licences on Monday, June 4. The ban was reportedly lifted on Sunday, June 24.
