A former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday, December 4, met with the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the PDP's national chairman, Uche Secondus.
Punch reports that Obasanjo, Atiku and Secondus met in Abuja to strategise ahead of the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.
It was gathered that the was also attended by a few 'carefully' selected members of the opposition party.

Discussions during the meeting was based on the strategies that would enable Atiku and the PDP emerge winners in the general elections.
The meeting also focused on reviewing the ongoing zonal campaigns for the party and procedures for the various activities ahead of the election.
Sources within the party said the PDP used the meeting as an opportunity to settle the long crisis between Atiku and a former governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako who recently returned to PDP after decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
A source said: “It was a family and an elaborate meeting. Baba (Obasanjo) is a fantastic leader. I have never seen such a man who combines energy with intellect and political sagacity.

“He spoke at length to everyone, including the Waziri (Atiku) and others that were there.
“He had successfully settled the rift between Atiku and Nyako and the disagreements between Atiku and Ardo. Now, we have Adamawa to take because all the power brokers are behind us," the source said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Obasanjo had said that he doesn’t know the position Asiwaju Bola Tinubu currently holds in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obasanjo said this during a programme titled, “The Talk,” which was aired on a YouTube Channel, “Voice of the People.”
The former president had been asked to identify the designations of certain political figures in the country.
