Police await Saraki's arrival at Force intelligence office in Abuja over Offa bank robbery

- The invitation was in connection with the Offa bank robbery of Thursday, April 5

Senate president Bukola Saraki is being expected by the Nigeria Police Force at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) at Guzape, Abuja, over the Thursday, April 5, Offa bank robbery.

Punch report that the atmosphere at the IRT office was tense as more armed policemen were deployed in the area in expectation of the Senate president.

NAIJ.com notes that it is unclear whether the invitation extended to Senator Saraki will be honoured by the Senate president.

Recall that Saraki was asked by the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, to report at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force on Tuesday, July 24.

The invitation was in connection with the ongoing investigation of the Offa robbery of Thursday, April 5, in which many people lost their lives.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Olofa of Offa in Kwara state, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, expressed concerns that the investigation into the Offa bank robbery case might be jeopardised due to political reasons.

The monarch said that the investigation into the incident was going on smoothly before it was politicised.

He said the linking of Senate president and others politicians to the suspects under investigation was political persecution and nothing more than that.

The monarch said: “To some extent, the investigation was going on perfectly but later, it took another dimension that was not clear to all of us because it was politicised and we are praying to the almighty Allah that such should not affect the dispensation of justice or jeopardise justice,” the monarch said.
