Jacob Momoh, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jamub Group, has said that poor education is the culprit responsible for violence and terrorism in Nigeria, especially in the northern region.

He said this in a briefing in Abuja in the company of representatives of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) who conferred on him the award of the “innovative and outstanding entrepreneur” for his role in training youths in Nigeria.
Momoh maintained that education was a fundamental right that every child should enjoy. He said: “Education is a fundamental right and therefore, no child should be denied the opportunity of getting at least basic education. But in our country, the cost is getting increasingly high, making it near impossible for some to get access to quality education.
“The crisis in the northern part of the country is as a result of the lack of education either by refusal or denial. This has made the youth to take to fanaticism and extremism. A crime-free nation can only be achieved through quality education.
“The drive to make young Nigerians open to education has birthed the scholarship lottery. The lottery is a private sector initiative designed to raise funds creatively to mitigate the cost of education.”
Moreover, he said that the drive to make Nigerian youths open to education gave birth to the School ME Scholarship lottery, a private sector scheme designed to raise through creative means in a bid to reduce the cost of education.
The chairman college of former leaders of NAUS, Solomon Adodo, in his remarks, urged the federal government to establish industrial locations in each of the geopolitical zones in the country aligned with the comparative advantage of such regions where students make their creativity pay off.
