Read his message below:

Charly Boy said: “How come everyone is on Buhari to present ministerial list? Every quarter you go, you hear people mumbling about the ministerial list like as if once the list is out, our problems as a nation will be solved.

“I ask, are these mumblings because we are truly eager to see the new government kick into action and begin to address our numerous problems or because guys are arranging their hookups and connections. I am of the opinion that who makes the list or not is not as important as what they plan to bring to the table because that’s what will guarantee the change we are all looking for.

“I trust the president has a mind of his own, at least events seem to bring that home so no fears of impositions. It is time to wait patiently as the president kick starts his agenda. Be rest assured that if your father or someone you know makes the list, it might not be a good time to rejoice and draw out those lists of miserable yet money gulping projects that sign off government money in the name of contracts to family and friends because this time, Buhari will be watching and acting and hmmnn…

It should be noted that while Nigerians are awaiting the ministerial nominees that will be forwarded to the Senate, President Buhari wondered why there is so much anxiety over his cabinet.

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dissociated itself from the statement issued by a group, asking Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari to resign over his age.

The group, Peoples Democratic Party Media Watchdog (PDPMW), had asked Buhari to resign following claims by the Nigerian leader that his age would limit how effective he would be in office, but an official statement by the PDP’s publicity secretary, Olisah Metuh, has denied any such utterance.

The statement obtained from the party’s Facebook page, Metuh disclosed that, “the attention of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a press statement by a group parading as PDP Media Watchdog and purporting to be working within and in the interest of our great party.

“This group is absolutely unknown to the PDP and has no connection whatsoever with our party at any level, neither is the content of their statement a reflection of the position or stance of the party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, our great party has not authorized this group to use its name, acronym or logo to issue statements or make public pronouncements on any matter and we caution those behind them to henceforth desist from such immediately.

“The PDP therefore distances itself from the embarrassing statement by this group wherein it called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and went ahead to use offensive and denigrating language on the person and office of the President of our great country.”

Bode George Challenges APC Over Geopolitical Zoning

$

Chief Olabode George the former deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has challenged the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a war of political ideologies.

olabode george

Bode George

The PDP chieftain in an earlier dialogue had accused the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of playing primitive and dictatorial politics. He had also described Chief Bisi Akande as being naive over his comment on the zoning of political offices among the six geopolitical zones.

Akande went on to further stress that zoning was not part of APC’s programme but an agenda of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

This he made clear while speaking on the crisis that erupted from the National Assembly leadership elections which produced Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Yakubu Dogara as Reps Speaker, George said that he was happy that all the geopolitical zones had got all the principal offices.

He went on to say that: “The six geopolitical zones have come to stay. Anybody that disregards this does so at his own peril. I remember that in the 1950s, when Chief Obafemi Awolowo and others went for the constitutional conference, the suggestion of Papa (Awolowo) and the Action Group was that there should be six geopolitical zones.

Buttressing his point he added that there should be a North-East and a North-West in which the minorities within the zone would be placed into the North-Central.

Then a South-East and South-West where the minorities will fall into the South-South.

READ ALSO: 7 Priority Areas For 8th National Assembly

Chief Bode ensured to affirm that this was the concept upon which the PDP had operated, he stated categorically that this is the ideology that has sustained our democracy in last 16 years.

He further explained that according to the PDP’s style, the President, the Vice-President, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the National Chairman of the party must reflect the six geopolitical zones.

In conclusion he made it clear that he was happy all the geopolitical zones got principal offices.

“North-West got President, South-West got Vice-President, North-Central got Senate President, North-East got Speaker of the House of Representatives, South-South has APC national chairman and the South-East will get the SGF by all indication. Doesn’t that augur well for the unity of this country? You see, Nigeria is not a natural country, it is a forced union by the British and not a union willingly entered into by the people, therefore there is no united culture. Therefore, zoning is here to stay.”Nigeria is Africa’s biggest oil producer and its largest economy, yet many Nigerians do not feel the benefits with nearly half the population living below the poverty line.

The question remains, just like Bode George claims, is zoning the solution?

After losing the last presidential election to president Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already planning a return to power.

According to Olisa Metuh, publicity secretary of the PDP, the party is staying firm as an opposition to the ruling party and will bounce back in the next four years before which it would be offering constructive alternatives to the programmes and policies of the APC-led administration.

While dissociating itself from statement issued by a group linked with the PDP, asking president Muhammadu Buhari to resign over his old age, Metuh stated that: “this is completely unacceptable and against the posture of the PDP to engage only on robust and credible opposition while constructively offering alternatives to the programmes and policies of the APC-led government, preparatory to our return to power in the next four years.

“We note with dismay that the attitude of this group is a direct consequence of the approach adopted by the APC in denigrating and insulting our immediate-past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Though we know that former President Jonathan suffered such fate in the hands of the APC, we shall not repay them in the same coin as such is not part of our tradition and value as a party.

President Buhari Has In Quantum Wisdom, He Gets Better With Age – Presidency

The presidency has reacted to the claims that President Muhammadu Buhari will limit his performance as leader of the country because of his age.

Nigeria’s leader has lamented in the interview after the African Union Summit end that he had not become the president when he was younger.

He said: “I wish I became head of state when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do.

On its turn the Peoples Democratic Party Media Watchdog has called for the resignation of the president.

Answering to the development Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman said the president’s statement in Johannesburg was misread.

He said: “As the saying goes, “old wines are tasty” and the President Buhari we have today is a man, like old wine, that has got tastier.”

“At 72, yes, he can’t be called a youth, but he has in quantum the wisdom, the patience, temperance and forbearance that age brings. And all these virtues he has brought to the Presidency, to make a difference in our national life.

While he admitted that the president made the comment, Adesina said it was not an admission that Buhari was too old to cope with the demands of his position.

Adesina said while at 72, the president could not be called a youth, but he has in quantum the wisdom, patience, temperance and forbearance that age brings.

The presidential spokesman added that Buhari had brought all these virtues to the presidency to make a quality in national life.

The statement says in part: “The President, who had served as a military governor of the then North-Eastern State at 33 years old, declared, ‘I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do.’

“The above comments have been reported by some newspapers to mean that the President was saying he was too old to cope with the demands of his office. Far from it.

“As the saying goes, ‘old wines are tasty’ and the President Buhari we have today is a man, like old wine, that has got tastier.

“At 72, yes, he can’t be called a youth, but he has in quantum the wisdom, the patience, temperance and forbearance that age brings. And all these virtues he has brought to the Presidency, to make a difference in our national life.

“The President assured the Nigerian community in South Africa that his administration will make a positive impact on the country. And that he would do.

“Insecurity as symbolised by insurgency will be brought to an end, corruption will be fought to a standstill, employment will be created for the teeming army of unemployed, the economy will be revived, and the quality of life of Nigerians will take an upward swing again.

“These will not come by a sudden flight, but they will happen in the life of this administration.

He added that at 72, the Buhari persona has not changed. Adesina said the President stayed “the simple, honest, incorruptible patriot he has always been.

The presidential media aide added that because Nigerians earnestly desired change, that was why they voted for him overwhelmingly at the general polls in March. He said all the virtues and values of the Buhari persona would be deployed into governance in the weeks and months ahead.

He reminded that the Nigerian community in South Africa was enslaved as Buhari spoke with them on Monday.

The Nigerian Governors Forum plans to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, to discuss the solution for the satirical economic situation in Nigeria.

The governors from 36 states announced that the meeting with Nigeria’s leader will come up next week.

Abdullaziz Yari, the chairman of the forum and Zamfara state governor, said the NGF will not seek bailout from the federal government to pay backlog of workers’ salaries owed by many of the states.

Instead, Yari said the governors would request from the government payment for the different federal programs executed by the states, which it was yet to pay.

He said: “Instead of asking for bailout, let us look for how the federal government can settle that backlog for us so that we can move forward. Nearly all the states are being owed by the by the federal government.

“Some of the states are being owed about N10 billion, some N20 billion with a state like Lagos being owed more than N50 billion. So, if we can get that done, then most of the issues can be resolved in earnest.

The governors while claiming the critical state of country’s economy, observed that the problem of unpaid workers’ salaries was not special to the states, saying that some agencies also owed their workers.

Governor Yari showed the optimism that the scheduled meeting with Buhari would give a permanent solution to the cash crunch problem.

We discussed that extensively and we are trying to see that we find a lasting solution. We are seeing the President to sit down with him. As we are in a bad situation, the federal government is also in the same problem because some of the agencies have not paid salaries for six months.

“So it’s not only states that are owing. It’s the problem of the entire nation, not only states. We are going to work in synergy and keep our fingers crossed. We will meet with the President so that we can get a lasting solution to this problem,” the governor added.

The forum ratified Yari’s election as head for a term of one year, renewable after termination.

The governors also planned a retreat at a future date to discuss how states can become more workable and identify means of improving governance.

The forum vowed to work with President Buhari and support him in the running of the administration.

It should be mentioned that currently Nigeria suffers from rising tension because there are a lot of incidents when workers don’t get their salaries.

Our tradition has it that when you are king, the elderly wives remain to hand down the tradition to the younger wives, and also to teach the king the tradition because the king had been a prince, not a king.”
