NOUN VC revealed how much Obasanjo earned as a lecturer

- The VC also revealed that the former president had two students of theological studies attached to him as a supervisor in the school

- Adamu disclosed the earning of Obasanjo at the university's 8th convocation ceremony marking the graduation of 20,799 students

Professor Abdalla Adamu, the vice chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abeokuta study centre, has revealed how much former President Olusegun Obasanjo earned annually as a supervisor at the university.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) made this known on Tuesday, March 20, at a press briefing in Abuja, where he said that Obasanjo had two students in Theological Studies he supervised.

Adamu spoke at a briefing at the 8th convocation of NOUN where 20,799 students convoked and 103 graduates finished their degrees with first class honours.

The VC said Obasanjo earned N40,000 annually and had an office in Abeokuta when he was under the employment of the university.

The 20,799 graduating students were composed of 15,642 who got their graduate degrees and 5,157 who got their postgraduate degrees.

He said: “He (Obasanjo) has two students attached to him in theological studies. We gave him an office in Abeokuta and the salary is N40,000 a year as a facilitator.

“The former president did his fieldwork in Borno state during the heat of the insurgency, going to collect and analyse data. We have another big fish that we have appointed as a facilitator and we will announce him when we have given him an appointment letter.

“The 20,799 students for convocation are the highest in our history and the highest single graduation of students in a year in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly met with his former principal, Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state on Thursday, March 14.

It was gathered that Atiku had a private meeting with his host inside the Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) around 1pm.

It was learnt that the former vice president also observed his prayer at the mosque facility and also had lunch with Obasanjo before quietly leaving the town.
