The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said his presidential ambition is not worth the life of any Nigerian.
Atiku quoted the statement from the words of former president Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday, February 13, after he signed the peace accord in Abuja.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, the presidential candidate urged President Muhammadu Buhari to allow and security agencies carry out their assignments dutifully during the general elections.

He also asked security agencies not to embark on indiscriminate arrests of members of the opposition before elections and during the elections.
Atiku said the Nigerian democratic system could emerge stronger if the 2019 general elections are better managed than the 2015 process.
"For emphasis and in the spirit of fair play, I also urge our security agencies, not to embark on indiscriminate arrests of members of the opposition, 24 to 48 hours before elections, as has been the case in previous elections,” the statement read in part.
"Hopefully, our democracy should emerge stronger from this process with the 2019 elections proving better managed than the 2015 process, which was adjudged free and fair with the then opposition’s victory unobstructed
"Consequently, I also appeal to the President, General Buhari, to use his good office to ensure that every eligible person who casts their vote is confident in the process and in the belief that their vote will count.

"Additionally, every candidate must remember that this election is about the future of Nigeria, therefore, we must abide by the will of the people as freely expressed through elections, under the terms of our constitution."
Legit.ng had earlier reported that ahead of the Saturday, February 16, presidential election, APC's flag bearer, President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria's former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, met in person at International Conference Center in Abuja to sign the national peace accord for the second time.
The event was attended by dignitaries like the country's former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Bishop Mathew Kukah, the secretary-general of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, among others.
