A coalition has commended the Nigerian Military for its effort in repelling recent tracks by some Boko Haram elements in Yobe, Benue and Adamawa states on Monday, February 4.
The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE) said the Nigerian Military prevented what could have been described as a 'Black Monday' in its operation against the terrorists in these states.
A statement by CATE's president, Gabriel Onoja, said showed all manner of professionalism in repelling attacks in Shuwa town in Madagali local government area of Adamawa state; in Kanama, Yunusari local government area of Yobe state and Tomatar community in Guma local government area of Benue.

Speaking on the attacks, Onoja said attacks call to mind the series of alarms that have been raised by different stakeholders that there are people that have commissioned and paid terrorists to carry out such attacks so that Nigeria’s democracy can be aborted and an interim government illegally put in place.
He said the success recorded by the Military is a demonstration of the positive results that can be had when citizens trust the Armed Forces enough to collaborate with them and provide vital information.
Onoja said: "The successful thwarting of the terrorists in all the instances has affirmed that the decision the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, to launch Operation Python Dance nationwide was the right call for which he should be commended."
"It has turned out to be a proactive approach to the nation’s security challenges since it is now apparent that there are really those that are embittered that the country is on the way to having peaceful elections, which has made them even more desperate to destroy Nigeria’s democracy," Onoja said.
Saluting the strength of the troops fighting these elements, Onoja urged the Army to increase its collaboration with other agencies to improve on intelligence gathering.
He said such effort will aid in the arrest of some of the brains behind these attacks at the planning stage before they have time to cause their desired carnage in any part of the country.
"This must be closely followed by ensuring that anyone found to be complicit in planning or financing attacks against Nigeria is made to face the law without delay to serve as deterrence to others with similar plans," Onoja noted.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that some suspected members of the Boko Haram sect attacked a community in Michika local government area of Adamawa state.
Sources disclosed that the insurgents stormed the town on the night of Monday, February 4. Legit.ng gathered that Buba Marwa, a former military administrator of Lagos state, is from the town.

It was gathered that the incident happened after Marwa led 13 major generals, eight air vice marshals, two rear admirals, 11 brigadier-generals, nine air commodores, eight commodores and 17 former military administrators - all retired, to Aso Rock to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, troops of 159 Battalion, Forward Operational Base (FOB), Sector 2, Operation Lafiya Dole, on Monday evening repelled attempted terrorists incursion into the border town of Kanama, Yunusari local government of Yobe.
The acting assistant director Army Public Relations, Lt. Njoka Irabor, made this known in a press statement issued in Damaturu. Irabor said: “The terrorists came in at about 5:30 pm and started shooting sporadically and vigilant troops of the FOB engaged them."
