Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defence, has told the Federal High Court in Lagos that it was tough accepting to testify against his friend, former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, The Nation reports.
Legit.ng reports that he spoke on Monday, February 4, while testifying in Fayose’s trial for money laundering before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

It was gathered that under cross examination by defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo (SAN), Obanikoro admitted he returned N200million to the federal government.
He said it was part of funds received from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) during the 2014 Ekiti election.
“It’s very painful for me to give evidence against him, no doubt about that", Obanikoro said.
Obanikoro admitted he led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) team in Ekiti for Fayose’s victory.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, February 4, stood down for one hour, the N6.9 billion fraud trial of the immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Peter Fayose.
A former minister of state for defense, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who is the fifth prosecution witness, was billed for cross examination on Monday, February 4.
It was gathered that he testified at the last adjourned date, on January 21, saying that Fayose received five million dollars and some amounts of naira from the impress account of a former national security adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), in June 2014.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, handling the trial, rose shortly after the court began sitting to attend an official function. She said that she would be back in an hour to continue with the case.
