One lucky punter has won an outrageous bet after correctly predicting Manchester City's 9-0 win over lowly-ranked Burton Albion in the first leg of the EFL Cup played on Wednesday night, January 9, at Etihad stadium.
But that is not the unthinkable part, the punter, identified as Hampson Phil further predicted that City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, would score the first goal of the match.

And true to his prediction, the Belgian midfielder opened the scoring with a powerful header for the Pep Guardiola tutored-side within just five minutes of the game.
De Bruyne's header opened the goal fest at Etihad, as Gabriel Jesus netted four goals. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez all getting their names on the scoresheet.
The encounter finished with City the better side, having claimed a 9-0 victory ahead of the second leg away from home.

The Premier League champions' victory effectively won Phil a staggering N3.8m from a N10,121.89 bet, having correctly predicted the two outcomes.
An evidently happy Phil has since taken to Twitter to share a screenshot of his betslip.
Reacting to his side's win, Pep Guardiola lauded his wards for the performance, disclosing that City are technically into the finals of the tournament.

"The result was good and, of course, we are already in the final but we have to play the second leg," BBC Sport quoted Guardiola.
"We will take it seriously. Burton have had an incredible tournament. They have to be so proud, they did so well," he added.
The winner from the tie will face either Tottenham Hotspurs of Chelsea in the finals.
