As the 2019 general elections draws near, Nigerians have given a hint on what they wish to see dominate the campaign space ahead of the presidential poll.

These Nigerians who responded to a Twitter poll made by Legit.ng on two major issues - security and unemployment - said to have more citizens gainfully employed should dominate campaign space more than security.

The poll which ended with 351 respondents had 55% voting unemployment while the other 35% voted security on Twitter.

Similarly, the Facebook poll ended with 68% respondents voting unemployment while 32% voted for security.

Some of the respondents who reacted to the poll in the comment also gave reasons for the decision they took between the two options made available on the poll by Legit.ng.

A Twitter user said, @xclusivewayne99 said the major contributor of insecurity in any country is unemployment while another user said both issues are critical tools for decision making by any government.

Also, Abdullahi Salihu responding to the poll on Facebook said: "Unemployment harbours insecurity. When someone is busy with his job, the idea of committing crime will not be in his agenda. Even though both essential, but unemployment is the key to be addressed first."

This was also collaborated by Ayim Dickson who is of the view that solving unemployment automatically settles issues of security.

"Once the issues of unemployment is solved, and people are engaged, no one will have the time to commit crime," Dickson noted.

Below are some of the opinion by respondents to the poll on Twitter and Facebook:

Is paying workers per hour the solution?

Both are important.

Solve unemployment and security issue will be over.

Chigbu has a totally different opinion.

Crimes are mostly caused by illiterates who have no gainful employment.

Unemployment harbours insecurity.

Giving their reasons, some Nigerians said all the regions across Nigeria have at some time produced presidents and only the southeast still lacked the opportunity to do same.
