Checkout the 16 teams that qualified for the Champions League knockout stage

- French League side Olympique Lyon complete the 16 teams that will battle for the quarter finals stage as from next February

- They shared spoils with Shakhtar Donetsk in their last group game to finish second on Group F table

- The draws for the knockout stage of the championship will be held in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, December 17

Champions League group stages are over and the boys have been separated from the men going to the next stage of the championship.

With 15 teams already qualified before the last match day, French League side Lyon needed to secure at least a point against Shakhtar Donetsk to seal their passage.

And a Nabil Fekir's second half strike earned them the needed point to complete the 16 teams for the round of 16 stage and render Junior Moraes early goal a consolation.

Meanwhile, the pairings for the Round of 16 fixtures will be staged on Monday, December 17 in Switzerland as the title contention gets heated up.

Real Madrid are the defending champions and they are also in the race to win their fourth consecutive UCL title - having won the last three under former boss Zinedine Zidane.

Below are the 16 teams that made it to the knockout stage of the championship this season:

Manchester City: The Premier League champions finished at the summit of Group F with 13 points from six matches despite kicking of their campaign on a losing note.

Despite suffering an opening day defeat to the French League side on their home soil, the Citizens bounced back to winning ways and eventually topped the group at the end of the stage.

Olympique Lyon: Bruno Génésio's men reached the knockout stage of the tournament after Nabir Fekir's goal salvaged a draw for his side away from home.

They finished second on the table with eight points after six games - two points better than their Ukranian counterpart after the blast of the whistle.

Real Madrid: The defending champions were beaten just twice in the group stage by Russian League giants CSKA Moscow.

Though, they finished as the group leaders with 12 points but their recent performance against the visitors got disappointed with the performances of the team.

Barcelona: The Catalan won four and drew the remaining two of their group games, thereby finishing top on Group B table.

While Tottenham Hotspur edged Inter Milan to pick the second spot after both finished on eight points after the same number of games.

Others are Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool, FC Porto, Schalke O4, Bayern Munich, Ajax, AS Roma, Juventus, and Manchester United.

The draws for the last-16 stage of the 2018-19 Champions League tourney will be staged on December 17 in Nyon, Switzerland.
