The unit comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Muhammed Aliyu, has reportedly rejected a N50m bribe to clear a container of tramadol worth N808 million.
The command also intercepted various contrabands with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N5.1bn within August 17 to December 10, 2018, The Sun reports.

Comptroller Aliyu told the press on Tuesday, December 11, that the seizures comprise of 58 vehicles, 34 of which are exotic brands as well as 39,664 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice.
He said also seized were 3,252 cartons of frozen poultry products, 2,887 jerry cans of vegetable oil, 3,792 parcels of Indian hemp, 5x20ft containers of unprocessed wood, 2,520 bales of used clothing, 710 cartons of tramadol, and 17 sacks (510kg) of pangolin scales, among others.

Aliyu restated the unit’s determination to prevent smuggled food items from getting to Nigerian citizens.
He disclosed that the seizure of the 3,792kg of Indian hemp worth N379.2 million from Ghana was the biggest seizure made in the history of FOU Zone A.
In another report, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Monday, September 10, said it intercepted and seized a truck conveying over 200 bags of contraband rice covered with plantains and banana.
The service said the contraband items were seized by operatives of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone C, Owerri in Imo state.
The customs area comptroller in charge of the zone, Kayode Olusemire, said the 20 feet container truck, with the registration number, Lagos AGL 408 XR, was intercepted along the Benin stretch of the unit on Saturday, September 9.
