- Bayern Munich have made it clear that they did not sign Ronaldo because he is 33
- The club's president explained that they would have signed him if he was 24 before he left Real Madrid
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has made known the rationale behind the decision of the club not to sign Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo before he joined Juventus.
Before the former Manchester United star left Real Madrid, he was linked with a mega million move to Bayern Munich, but the club failed to do any business with Los Blancos.
And now, Bayern Munich boss has claimed that the club were unable to pay the amount Real Madrid demanded for Ronaldo because of his age.
"We would have paid that amount for him with our eyes closed if he was 24 years old but he's 33,'' he told Bild.
Ronaldo has however proved the Bayern Munich chief wrong that age is not his barrier as he has found the back of the net 11 times in 18 appearances this season for Juventus.
