We have made request for the UK to extradite Diezani - Ibrahim Magu

The acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has said that the anti-graft agency has asked the United Kingdom to extradite former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, and other Nigerians who have allegedly looted the country’s commonwealth but are hiding in the UK.

Magu in an interactive session with media practitioners and members of the civil society in Lagos on Tuesday, December 4, said the commission has secured a number of temporary and permanent forfeiture of property and various sums of money unlawfully acquired by persons of questionable character, Channels TV reports.

He said the recent one was the final forfeiture of N1.9bn from a commercial bank to the federal government. Magu stated that the EFCC has recorded 246 convictions from January till November 30, 2018.

But when questioned about the case of bribery allegations trailing the Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Magu maintained that the issue is already in court.

Meanwhile, Justice Valentine Ashi has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to arrest Diezani Alison-Madueke within 72 hours.

Alison-Madueke served as minister of petroleum resources during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan and has been in the UK since Muhammadu Buhari came into office.

The Cable reports that the judge of the Federal Capital Territory high court on Tuesday, December 4, ordered that the former minister be arrested within 72 hours.
