- An APC group in Ondo says there is a gang up by key figures of the ruling party against President Buhari
- The group alleged that four APC governors, a minister and a former senior official of the party are set to decamp to Action Alliance (AA)
- They alleged that the group is led by Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu
The Ondo APC Solidarity Group has alleged that four All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, a minister and a former senior official of the party are set to decamp to Action Alliance (AA) before the 2019 general elections.
The group made the allegation on Tuesday, December 4, while addressing journalists at the APC headquarters in Abuja.
The convener of the group, Comrade Gbenga Bojuwomi and national secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Sikiru, who addressed the press conference, named Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as the leader of the party chieftains preparing to dump the party.
Others named by the group are Governors Kayode Fayemi, Rochas Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosun of Ekiti, Imo and Ogun state respectively.
The group also named the minister of works, power and housing, Babatunde Fashola and a former national legal dviser of the APC, Alhaji Muiz Banire, as part of the plan.

Part of the statement read: “In a bid to fulfill one of his promises against the re-election bid of President Buhari, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has mobilised new group against the wishes and party principles to frustrate the opinion of party loyalists in Ondo state.
“Governor Akeredolu with some fake individuals who appear to be loyal to Mr. President from the southwest, the likes of Babatunde Fashola, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Ibikunle Amosun, Governor Rochas Okorocha, Muiz Banire and others have recently held various secret meetings in Akure, over 2023, not over 2019 for President Buhari’s success, in favour of Babatude Raji Fashola.
“To buttress this, Ondo and Imo states have been picked as a launch pad of their secret agenda, by test-running the party called Action Alliance (AA). In-fact Governor Akeredolu has directed all APC members in Ondo state loyal to him to mobilize for AA and work against President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming general election.
“We hereby call on DSS, EFCC and ICPC to beam their searchlight on financial mobilization for AA in Ondo and Imo states.
“Furthermore, there was a revelation from the stakeholders meeting held in Akure sometimes in September, 2018 where Governor Akeredolu specifically told the party members that he would have to fight three enemies in APC to achieve, the so called 2023 Presidential ambition of Babatunde Fashola. The tree personalities to fight are President Buhari, Bola Tinubu and Adams Oshiomole.”
The group further accused the Ondo governor of picking nomination forms from AA for his loyalists contesting for Senate, House of Representative and state Assembly seats.
“These people are Barrister Tunji Abayomi as Ondo north senatorial candidate, the barrister in question is still an appointee under Mr. Akeredolu (Chairman Governing Board, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko).
“Hon. Olemija, Akoko North-East/West Federal Constituency, Victor Adegbole - Federal Constituency Akoko West/East and host of others across all the 18 local government of Ondo state.
“Mr. Akeredolu’s plan is to spend whatever amount released from APC for the election on his loyalist in Action Alliance,” the group further alleged.

The group warned President Buhari and APC national headquarters to move faster than Akeredolu, Fashola, Fayemi, Okorocha, Amosun and Banire before the hatch their plots, adding that plans have been concluded to move to AA en-masse shortly before February 2019 elections.
Recall that the chief of staff and son-in-law to Governor Okorocha, Chief Uche Nwosu, announced he will vie for the Imo governorship seat on the platform of AA.
This has ended speculations concerning Nwosu’s next line of action after his former party, APC, refused to submit his name as the party’s flag-bearer for the 2019 elections.
Nwosu had earlier dispelled rumours that he will dump the APC for another party, vowing to remain in the ruling party and reclaim his 'stolen mandate.'
