Croatian playmaker Luka Modric was declared the winner for the 2018 Ballon d'Or award on Monday, December 3, in Paris.
According to sportbible.com citing Sport Witness, the Real Madrid star claimed the prestigious award with over 250 points from second placed Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award.
A further breakdown of the results showed that the Croatian, who emerged the FIFA Best Men's Player in September, was voted the best across different continents before he was handed the prize at the ceremony in Paris.

Interestingly, the 33-year-old Modric has entered the record books as the oldest recipient of the award, and also the first player in history to receive the World Cup Golden Ball, UEFA Men's Player, FIFA Best Men's Player and Ballon d'Or in the same year.
