Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau on Sunday, December 2, urged Christians to embark on intensive fasting and prayers for the unity, peace and security of the state.

Legit.ng gathers that the governor, who was represented by the commissioner for women affairs, Mrs Anna Izam, said, “transition periods are always critical to all nations.”

“We in Plateau are not an exception so Christians as other faiths, should wake up to the challenge and fast and pray for the next year’s election and transition.

“The unity, peace and security of this state are paramount to us and we should not allow anything to entice us into creating any form of misdemeanor or crisis that will affect our growth and development as a people,” he warned.

The governor frowned at the attitude of some Christian businessmen and women, who were fond of selling their wares at exorbitant prices.

He said: “When a Christian exhibits that kind of attitude most especially to his/her fellow brethren, he/she does not prosper or progress in the business.”

According to him, Christians must exercise restraint in the way and manner they cheat people when doing business “so that the wrath of God does not fall upon us.”

Lalong said that there should be the fear of God in the heart of all and sundry so that whatever we do, "God should be pleased and glorified to pour more of His blessings upon us as His people.”

Responding, the pastor in charge of the zone, Vincent Okojie, expressed gratitude to the governor for finding time to grace the church’s thanksgiving service.

He prayed to God to keep, guide and protect the governor as he pilots the affairs of the state, as well as prayed for the peace and security of the state during the electioneering and general polls, come 2019.
