With the disappointing result, United are seventh on the table with 21 points from 13 matches - 14 points behind Man City after the same number of games.

Mourinho's men battle for Champions League qualification when they host Young Boys on Tuesday evening at Old Trafford.

"I want the team to start strong, go strong on the opposition, not to be waiting," Mourinho told ESPNFC ahead of the game.

"Probably you [the media] or the fans think Jose told them to start slow and play nice and easy or to be waiting for them to react.

"It is exactly the opposite. I want the team to go immediately and it is a bit frustrating."

United have a chance to reach the knockout rounds of the Champions League if they beat Young Boys at Old Trafford and Valencia fail to beat Juventus in Turin.

Mourinho said over the weekend that his players lack 'heart and desire' during the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday and he does not want a repeat performance against the Swiss champions.

"It is not a crucial match because if we don't win we still don't depend on other results, so is not a crucial game but I want to play from minute one like it's the last chance we have to qualify," Mourinho said.

"I want to play this game as a knockout game and the team we are going to pick is a team that tries to have that happiness to cope with that little pressure to the players that is not a real pressure because the reality is we have one more match to play.

"Let's forget [the last group game] against Valencia. Let's play this game like a game we have to win."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United stars have expressed displeasure over Jose Mourinho's comments after Saturday's 0-0 draw vs Crystal Palace on Saturday at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils boss while reacting to his side's average performance in the game said his players lacked desire and threatened to relegate some of them to the bench in the upcoming matches.

Mourinho observed that some of his players do not care enough about the results would happily party after the game.
