Several domestic violence cases have been reported and people were advised to voice out when it becomes unbearable. Some women took to social media to raise alarms while others have decided to keep quiet about their problems.
Famous women empowerment advocate in Nigeria Mercy Makinde has taken to her Instagram handle to narrate how she was a victim of domestic violence. According to her post, she disclosed that this happened to her about 12 years ago.
Makinde added that she is one of the few ones to be alive because Nigerians have socially accepted the menace. She stated that, even religious bodies don’t see domestic violence as a big deal.

However, Makinde explained that domestic violence is not as a result of provocation because these men can’t hit their bosses or colleagues at work but feel free to express their anger on their women.
She further advised people to stop judging victims of domestic violence because real men don’t hit women. Makinde has also offered to help other victims make a difference in the society.
