- The eighth Senate has set up a committee to probe senators in the committee on Army
- The call for the probe came after claimed that the Nigerian Army is completely detached from the Senate
The Eighth Senate has ordered the committee on ethics to look into the affairs of the Senate and investigate the leadership of the Senate's committee on army over the alleged detachement of the Nigerian Army from the Senate.
The Senate made the decision after Senator Abdullahi Danbaba cited Order 14 and 15, informed the Senate that since the constitution of the committee on Army, it has not been active due to weak leadership.

Danbaba said: “The Nigerian Army is completely detached from the Senate.”
Danbaba made his call on Thursday, November 22, as the Senate adjourned its plenary in honour of the 44 soldiers that were recently killed by Boko Haram insurgents at the Nigerian Army base in Borno state.
The motion was first moved by Senator Bala Na’allah who brought the issue of the massacre to the House during the plenary.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, November 21, commenced an investigation into allegations that the Nigeria police interfered in the just concluded Kwara state bye-election.

The probe commenced after Senator Rafiu Ibrahim during plenary raised an order over the allegation that a police helicopter landed and offloaded some packages during the House of Representatives bye-election under the alleged order of the inspector general of police.
The senator said many registered voters did not take part in voting due to alleged harassment by the Department of State Services (DSS).
