JUST IN: EFCC relocates data centre to headquarters after inferno

- EFCC has relocated its data centre and inter-agency task force units to its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja

- This came after the horrible fire outbreak which took place on Monday, November 19, at Wuse 2

- Tony Orilade, the acting spokesman of the EFCC, revealed that the inferno led to the loss of millions of naira

Due to a recent a fire outbreak at its office, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has relocated its data centre and inter-agency task force units to its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Regrettably, the inferno, which took place at Wuse 2, Abuja on Monday, November 19, caused huge loss of data and equipment, The Cable reports.

Tony Orilade, the acting spokesman of the EFCC, revealed that the value of the damaged items is worth a lot of millions. “The value of the damaged items, mostly ICT consumables, is in a few millions,” he said, adding that detailed analysis of the damage is yet to be made public.

The acting spokesman further said that officials of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Wuse zonal office, subdued the inferno that almost razed down the building where the EFCC reportedly have records of all its arrests and recoveries

Oriade stated that the fire fighters led by Melone Onyekachi, the sector commander, arrived at the burning office when the service was alerted by Kayode Oyetunde, incident duty officer of the commission at 7:10pm.

His words: “The fire started at the former newsroom which now serves as storage for ICT equipment/consumables that were retrieved from the commission’s former offices scattered across Abuja.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Wuse 2 office of the EFCC was gutted by fire in the night of Monday, November 19.

EFCC's spokesman, Tony Orilade confirmed the incident, adding that men of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Wuse Zonal office had successfully subdued the inferno that almost razed down the Wuse 2 Zonal office of the commission.

The EFCC in a statement said: “The fire fighters led by the Sector Commander, Melone Onyekachi, arrived the Wuse 2 office of the Commission when the Service was alerted of the fire by the Incident Duty Officer of the Commission, Kayode Oyetunde at 1910 hours."
