I've never used a computer in my life - Japan's cyber-security minister Sakurada confesses

- Japan's 68-year-old cyber-security minister, Yoshitaka Sakurada, has shocked the social media world with his latest confession

- Sakurada recently admitted before a committee of lawmakers that he has never used a computer in his life

- However, the minister said that since other operatives in the ministry are equipped in the field, there is no cause for alarm

Yoshitaka Sakurada, Japan's new cyber-security minister, appointed in October 2018, has stunned his fellow citizens after he claimed that he has never used a computer. Sakurada made the statement before a committee of lawmakers.

The 68-year-old minister said: "Since I was 25 years old and independent I have instructed my staff and secretaries. I have never used a computer in my life."

Sakurada's official word schedule entails overseeing cyber-defence preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, BBC News reports.

Masato Imai, a politician from the opposition group in the country, Democratic Party (DP), expressed immense surprise over the minister's statement.

Imai stated: "I find it unbelievable that someone who is responsible for cyber-security measures has never used a computer."

On his part, Sakurada said that since other operatives in the ministry are equipped with the needed experience, he is confident of a smooth running of affairs..

However, his struggle to answer a follow-up question about whether USB drives were in use at the country's nuclear power stations caused further concern.

The development has been an object of heated reaction and discussion on social media by both Japanese and global internet users.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the acting chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, had said that the trends in global security revealed that cyber crimes is the latest form of terrorism and corruption affecting all nations in the 21st century.

Legit.ng gathered that Magu said on Monday, June 25, at the commission’s head office, Wuse II, Abuja, while playing host to a delegation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led by George Piro.
