The National Crime Agency (NCA) in the United Kingdom has said it has neither confirmed nor denied whether it has an investigation into the Diezani Alison-Madueke case.
The agency made the statement in response to claims by the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, regarding the investigation of the former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, The Punch reports.
“We have neither confirmed nor denied whether we have an investigation into Diezani Alison-Madueke, the NCA in an email signed by Louise Powell, the senior communications officer said.

The NCA also refrained from confirming that it would be collaborating with the EFCC to extradite the former minister, saying it does not handle extradition outside the European Union countries because of the European arrest warrant agreement.
European arrest warrant mandates that member states within the EU arrest and transfer criminal suspects or sentenced person to any other state that makes an extradition request.
But the European arrest warrant agreement does not apply to Nigeria because it is not a member of the EU.

Legit.ng had reported that Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman, EFCC, on Monday, November 12, reaffirmed the determination of the commission to extradite former Petroleum Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke.
Magu told newsmen at a news conference in Abuja that the commission could not “wait endlessly’’ to prosecute the former minister on several allegations of impropriety against her while in office.
Alison-Madueke has been in the United Kingdom since the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration ended in 2015.
Acting spokesman of EFCC, Tony Orilade, had told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the process for the extradition of Alison-Madueke from UK had commenced.
