- Iwobi remains upbeat he will continue working hard with the Unai Emery-tutored side

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has hailed the performance of Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi in last weekend’s Premier League clash between the Gunners and Watford at the Emirates.

According to a UK Mirror report citing Standard Sport, the Frenchman was highly impressed after the game that he told the Arsenal star he is a 'great player.'

Interestingly, moments after the game, the club legend had a brief chat with the Super Eagles star, and offered him some words of encouragement after a decent show in the pitch.

"I know just one thing, I told him after the game he made the difference," Pires, was quoted as saying, even as he was quick to add.

"He’s a great player, very fast.

"He finds good solutions on the field with his vision. He has good mentality and spirit. Of course, he’s young but he’s learning very quickly. Arsenal with Alex Iwobi and Alex Iwobi with Arsenal have a good future."

Interestingly, Iwobi, on his part, insists he will keep working hard to further improve his game under Unai Emery, who has played a key role in his game.

"I’m more positive and more confident with the ball," the 22-year-old said.

"The boss has basically told me that if something doesn’t work, just keep going and don’t dwell on it.

"He’s told me to stop being so critical and to just keep trying no matter what happens, no matter if things don’t go as I want them to.

"That’s given me a lot more confidence to try a few more things, like beat a player, to shoot more. I’m always ready to get on the ball a bit more, so I guess it’s helped in that sense.

"I’ve lost a bit of weight because of the intense training and I think it’s made me a bit sharper,” Iwobi submitted.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Arsenal fans on Saturday, September 29, had to wait till the last ten minutes of their game against Watford before the Gunners scored the two goals that gave them the three points at the Emirates.

The visitors would have themselves to blame for losing this game as they found it very hard to control the pressure by the Gunners in the last ten minutes.

Watford defender Craig Cathcart wanted to clear the danger inside his own box in the 81st minute, but he instead scored an own goal.

Alexandre Lacazette then provided the assist that helped Mesut Ozil to score the winning goal for Arsenal in the 83rd minute.
