The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying the party was ‘playing with fire over the way it has handled the governorship primary election in Lagos state.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that Governor Fayose, who spoke in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday, October 2, said the APC was playing “a dangerous political game by placing party politics before the popular will of the people.”

It was reported that Governor Fayose, who spoke after his meeting with Bafarawa, said the development in Lagos would consume APC.

“The APC itself will show Nigerians where we would put a rope on their neck. The party is gradually and daily taking Nigerians for granted. They forgot that general election does not end with party politics.

“APC is playing a dangerous politics that can destroy this country. They are robbing people of their mandate with impunity.

“This is was what the defunct NPN did in 1983, the party forced itself on the people but God defeated them,” he said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state declared Jide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the primary election and governorship candidate of the party for 2019.

Tunde Balogun who is the chairman of the party in Lagos announced the result on Tuesday, October 2, at the party secretariat.

According to him, Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes to defeat Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who reportedly had 72,901 votes.

However, Clement Ebiri, chairman of the APC primary election committee, explained why the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC had to postpone the Lagos state governorship primary election.

Ebiri who had earlier distanced the committee from the election that took place in some areas of Lagos said the committee got the list of the party agents of one of the aspirants in the race late.
