Emerging reports have claimed that Ahmed Gulak, chairman of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election committee in Imo state, has condemned the cancellation of the poll that took place on Tuesday, October 2.
Channels Television reports that that Gulak explained that the primary had already been concluded and an appeal was the only route open to those who were aggrieved.
Gulak insisted that contrary to the decision of the national leadership, the exercise reflected the position of his committee on the matter.

It was gathered that he said the exercise was held peacefully and that Senator Hope Uzodima won the election and was declared a winner after polling 423,895 votes to defeat eight other aspirants including Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.
Gulak said his committee conducted a peaceful exercise which produced Senator Uzodimma as the party’s candidate for the 2019 governorship election for the state.

Adams Oshiomhole, national leader of the party, however, faulted the result of the election, describing it as fake.
It was learnt that Oshiomhole dissolved the Gulak-led committee which conducted the primary, noting that another committee will be set up immediately for the conduct of fresh primaries in the state.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the APC suspended the governorship primaries in Imo state indefinitely following controversy.
Yekini Nabena who is the party spokesperson announced the suspension on Tuesday, October 2 although the reason for the new development was not provided.
He also said the senatorial primaries in all the 36 states of the country have been postponed until October 3.
