- A widow claimed she was duped by travelling agency

- She said she and her late husband had paid the agency N500,000 for a planned vacation

- The widow is, however, asking for a refund to take care of other pressing matters but the agency was not reportedly willing to return the money

A widow, Omotunde Eyiowuawi, has reportedly called on relevant agencies to intervene in her case as a travelling agency, Hemigways Safaris Africa, allegedly refused to refund her back her money.

Eyiowuawi stated that she and her late husband had approached the travelling agency to plan for a family vacation.

She said that she and her husband went for a training at the company’s office situated at Alausa, Ikeja, where they were told that the agency has facilities for children, including an opportunity of staying in a five-star hotel and she and her husband bought the idea, believing that it will serve as “exposure” to the kids.

She said: “They said they have plan for five years, twenty years and we said we do not need it for five years and we asked them for the lowest plan and they told us explaining that if we should join them that day they will give us a bonus.”

According to her, her late husband, Olayinka, presented a cheque of N250,000 initially and later presented another N250,000 cheque to enable the family to enjoy a family vacation in South Africa but unfortunately, the husband died during the travelling preparation.

Eyiowuawi admitted that one of the staff in the agency had told them that they had three days from the day they presented the cheque to ask for a refund if they were no longer interested. She is, however, asking for a refund (after the stipulated days) due to the death of her husband.

The agency, however, reportedly told the widow that it can no longer refund the money as the three days stated in the agreement have elapsed.

She was allegedly advised to look for someone to swap with saying the money could not be refunded.

Eyiowuawi stated that they have not been given visas or passports when the husband died on the 23rd of August. She said she needed the money now to take care of pressing issues like paying of school fees, repairing her leaking roof and other things.
