Arsenal are still in the running for Argentina’s Albiceleste ace Cristian Pavon and the Premier League side are expected to open discussions with his club Boca Juniors in the coming days.

According to a UK Daily Mail report, Arsenal hinted their interest on Pavon after the summer World Cup in Russia, and will continue the hunt for the 22-year-old despite the departure of CEO Ivan Gazidis to AC Milian.

Already, Boca in an attempt to fend off potential suitors confirmed that the Argentine, has penned a contract extension.

Speaking on the development, club president Daniel Angelici took out time, to highlight the latest surrounding the forward.

“Pavon stays, signed for four more years. The clause is 50 million euros, which was what we wanted to be calm. We wanted to sell it when we understood that it was the necessary moment (sic),” Angelici was quoted as saying by TeamTalk.

Arsenal’s new head of football, Raul Sanllehi is expected to seal the Pavon’s deal as soon as all parties concern meet to sort issues.

The Gunners are currently placed seventh in the EPL log with nine points from a possible 15 points after five matches in the new campaign.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Premier League side, Arsenal have revived their interested in sealing a move for Argentina winger, Cristian Pavon despite previous £26.5 million offer rejected during the winter transfers in January, reports suggest.

The Emirates’ side wants the Argentine to replace of former forward, Alexis Sanchez who completed a switch to Manchester United last winter.

According to UK Mirror, citing sources at Spain’s news channel AS, Pavon’s Argentine club are in no hurry to offload their prized asset and are willing to hold on for the right suitors, with Pavon's appearance at the global stage; his price tag will be on the increase despite the Albiceleste falling out if the Round of 16.
