An Imo state High Court has given a restraining order on the congress planned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Justice Benjamin Iheka ruled the PDP, it’s agents and servants from, “in any manner whatsoever, excluding the Plaintiffs/Applicants (former local government chairmen and councillors) must not participate in voting and activities of the state's party congress and the national convention
The judge also said that the congress would he stopped pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated September 1, 2018, and filed September 4, 2018.

Punch reports that the court also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), its agents or servants from accepting any list of candidates submitted to it by the first defendant. The court said only list of candidates one whose voters are drawn from the list of Voters to the State Party Congress and the National Convention will be considered after hearing on the matter.
The court also fixed the return date for October 17, 2018.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the national chairman of the PDP Uche Secondus, received a petitioned by a chieftain of the party in Imo, Lancelot Obiaku, over alleged irregularities that marred the delegates election in the state.

Obiaku, in the petition, called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to ensure that the party’s structure in the state is not hijacked by those he described as unpopular politicians.
