Former Real Madrid boss Vicente del Bosque believes world’s sprint record holder, Usain Bolt has the potentials to excel as a football player, even as he was quick to add that he is likely to function effectively as a defender.
According to a Goal.com report citing sources at Olympic Channel, Del Bosque suggests that the 32-year-old Bolt would function effectively, as a full-back as his pace will offer him more space assisting him team during attack or defence.
"With space, he could be a very good footballer," Bosque was quoted as saying by Olympic Channel.

"He could be a full-back that covers a lot of space, but it depends, because it's not just about covering 100, or 60 or 70 metres of the pitch.
"It's about doing it many times over and that requires stamina which I don’t know whether he has or not – although I'm sure he has prepared.
"Without a doubt as a full-back, with his back towards the crowd and the touchline, that's where he would be most useful,” added the former La Roja manager.

Interestingly, Bolt debuted as a winger for the A-League campaigners during a friendly tie against Central Coast Select XI in August, after joining proceedings from the substitute’s bench in their 6-1 win.
Previously, the Jamaican tried out with Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Danish league campaigners Stromsgodset as he tried to find a club to test his football skills.
"To start playing professional football at the age of 32 isn't normal," said ex-Real Madrid boss Del Bosque.
"It's difficult because despite being in peak physical condition, I believe that the technical part is the fundamental part of football. A player's fantastic conditioning – being fast, agile, powerful – should support the technical ability.
"He will probably learn the tactical side and get to understand the game better both defensively and offensively.

"I'm sure he will find a solution to all of that, but the most difficult part will be to acquire the technical skills you need for any play. Control, passing, dribbling, a good touch on the ball, skills that you normally have had since childhood,” Del Bosque submitted.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt has finally made his football debut with a brief appearance off the bench for Central Coast Mariners in Australia.
The 32-year-old, who is on trial with the club, failed to find the target during the pre-season friendly.
The Jamaican came in as a second half substitute in the 71st minute after 10,000 fans repetitively chanted "WE WANT BOLT".
