Osun guber: Alliance for Democracy set to flag off governorship campaign

- Members of the Osun chapter of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) are gearing up for the governorship election in the state

- All is now set for the official flag off of the party's campaign for the elections

- The AD is confident of defeating the two major parties in the state during the electoral contest

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) is set to flag off it's campaign for the forth-coming Osun governorship elections.

NAIJ.com gathered that the event will be held on Thursday, September 13 at the Government Technical College, Oshogbo, the Osun state capital.

According to the press statement sent to journalists, party faithfuls would throng the venue to show solidarity for the AD’s gubernatorial candidate and his deputy who will be officially presented to the public.

NAIJ.com checks revealed that Architect Olugbenga Akintola is the governorship candidate of the party, while Honourable Akeem Bello is the deputy governorship candidate.

“The familiarisation exercise of introducing our candidate to each zone of the state began from the home town of Architect Olugbenga Akintola the governorship candidate, in Osun East, Ipetu Ijesha to be precise and from there to other senatorial districts.

“The deputy governorship candidate Honourable Akeem Bello, is from Ejigbo, Osun West and prior to our visitation to Osun west we held the one of Osun central at the party office in Oshogbo. We made sure that we touch all the three senatorial districts of Osun state properly introduce our candidates to the people,” part of the statement said.

The party also vowed to shock the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, the two major contenders, in the election.

Meanwhile, YIAGA Africa’s WatchingTheVote has revealed that they will deploy 500 stationary, 31 mobile citizen observers and 30 collation observers to a representative random sample of 250 polling units across all 30 local government areas of Osun state during the elections.

According to WTV project director, Ms Cynthia Mbamalu, the comprehensive observation of the September 2018 Osun state governorship election includes a systematic observation of voting and counting at a representative random sample of polling using the Parallel Vote Tabulation methodology and employing information and communication technologies (ICTs) to rapidly transmit observer reports.
