It was a black Monday, September 10, for the residents of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state as a filling station was said to have gone up in flames after a gas explosion.
NAIJ.com learnt that many of those present at the filling station, including sales attendants and customers, were caught up in the flame with many losing the struggle for survival.
Many were said to have been razed to death.
However, Channels Television puts the current death toll at ten as many others sustained various degrees of injury.

Among the dead is an infant, the report said.

The New Telegraph also reports that some vehicles and tricycles conveying passengers along Jos road were burnt thus leaving an unspecified number of persons burnt alive.
The report said men of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) and fire service were seen evacuating victims of the explosion and carrying out rescue efforts.
Another report by The Nation quoted one of the sympathizers, Ibrahim Mushasha, at the casualty unit of DASH, as saying: ”So far over 50 burnt persons have been conveyed into the unit for urgent medication to save their lives.
“Most of them were brought in unconscious and naked as their clothes burnt off their bodies”.
“Some of the victims were caught up in the inferno as they were plying the Lafia – Abuja road, especially students of the Nasarawa state polytechnic, Lafia who were going to the school for lectures, and persons travelling on that road as at the time of the gas explosion.”
A survivor of the incident who gave his name simply as Musa said: “Only God knows the number of person that died in that explosion.
“I saw a bus burning with passengers said. Some were rolling on the ground trying to escape but were not luck they all burnt.”

The report said the wives of the governor, deputy governor, officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were on ground providing succour.
The report added that the state government directed the evacuation of all affected persons to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, for treatment as the facilities at DASH are believed not to be enough to accommodate victims.

Amir was said to be driving at about 12 noon within Sokoto Airport Road, in an area called Bado, when the accident happened.
