PDP presidential aspirants reportedly kick against preferential treatment for Atiku, Saraki

Some presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party who have been in the party since 2014 are said to have expressed dissatisfaction over the preferential treatment given to some aspirants, who recently returned or defected to the PDP, Vanguard reports.

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki; former vice president Atiku Abubakar; Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, and former Kano state governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, are among presidential aspirants who recently returned to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress.

It was learnt that the party have resolved to meet by drawing the attention of delegates and National Working Committee (NWC) on the need to reward loyalty by picking a reputable aspirant.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Malam Hamidu Tafida, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP appealed to Nigerians to purchase a nomination form for him.

Tafida made the appeal in Jalingo while declaring his intention to contest the 2019 presidential election,

He said the situation in the country required sacrifice by all citizens in order to get things right and overhaul the nation.

In related development, previously reported that the national leadership of the PDP announced the sale of its nomination and expression of interest forms to members who interested in contesting elections into various offices in 2019.

The report said before Akobundu made the announcement, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Prince Uche Secondus, had met with state chairmen of the party and that the decision to start selling the forms was taken at the meeting.
