- The Sultan of Sokoto has urged Nigerian youths to get their PVC’s and ensure success for their favourite candidates/parties

- He urged them to use the PVC’s as weapons, instead of engaging in violence and thuggery

- He called for peace across the nation and appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting their leaders with prayers and advice

Youths in Nigeria have been urged by the Sultan of Sokoto, HRH Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar, to ensure the success of their parties and candidates in the forthcoming elections, by using their permanent voters’ cards.

He gave the advice in a message to Muslims on the occasion of Ed-el-Adhan, on Tuesday, August 21, Daily Trust reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that the Sultan also urged those who love President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, to get their PVC’s, so as to ensure success for both men.

He said: "I urge you to obtain your PVC’s; as without it, you would not vote for your favourite party and candidates in the forthcoming elections.

"We should see our PVC’s as religious and weapons; not the kind of weapons given to our youths by unscrupulous politicians to cause mayhem in our societies.

“If you love Buhari, the only way you can ensure his success is obtaining your PVC’s; and same thing with Governor Tambuwal and other aspirants."

The royal father insisted that no election is worth a precious life of any Nigerian; and urged youths to desist from any act of thuggery or violence.

He maintained that traditional rulers have no favourite party or candidate other than the choices of their subjects, and urged politicians and their parties not to see politics as a do-or-die affair because it is God who gives power to whoever he wishes, whenever he wishes to.

He said: "We should therefore play the game by its rules. We should avoid making inflammatory and divisive statements in our politicking. And after the election, whoever God gives the office, we should support him to succeed.”

He called for peace across the nation and appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting their leaders with prayers and advice, so they can successfully deliver on their mandates.
