The Osun state government has reportedly declared Monday, August 20 as a public holiday for traditional worshippers.
Dr Adebisi Obawale, the commissioner for home affairs, said in a statement on Thursday, August 16, in Osogbo that the holiday was to commemorate the 2018 Isese Day (Traditional Worshippers Day), Daily Trust reports.
“The holiday is in recognition of the annual Isese festival’s grand finale which allows adherents of traditional religion to come together for the annual celebration.

“Also known as Traditional Worshipers Day, Isese Day is the celebration of the peak of festivities among adherents of traditional religion,’’ he said.
The commissioner, however, urged adherents of traditional religion to celebrate the Isese Day in a peaceful manner and avoid any act capable of breaching the peace of the state.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Osun state some traditional rulers and chiefs, on Tuesday, August 14, declared their support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola.
The monarchs, under the aegis of Boripe Traditional Council, said Oyetola remained the most qualified candidate among all those contesting for the seat.

They claimed he also had the political acumen to rule the state just as they added that the candidate would be able to make the state witness the positive impact of democracy.
The monarchs who gave their endorsement included the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, the Alaagba of Aagba, Oba Rufus Ogunwole, the Olona of Ada, Oba Abimbola Abioye and Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Qamarudeen Adeyanju.
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, Oba Olabomi called on the people of the state to discountenance the ongoing insinuations that Oyetola is from Lagos.
