Super Eagles ace pens contract extension at Chelsea before joining Serie A club on loan

- Ola Aina has signed a new contract with Chelsea until 2021

- The 21-year-old defender will spend the 2018/19 season on loan at Serie A side Torino

- Aina was also on loan last season with Hull City in the Championship

Super Eagles and Chelsea defender Ola Aina has penned a new contract at the Premier League club until 2021.

According to reports coming out of the West London outfit the Nigeria international will spend the 2018/19 campaign on loan with Italian topflight side Torino.

The 21-year-old Aina, a versatile defender, made his first-team debut for Chelsea in a League Cup win over Bristol Rovers in 2016 after progressing through the club’s Academy.

At the last count Aina has had the privilege of claiming two UEFA Youth Leagues and two FA Youth Cups with the Blues youth teams.

The Eagles ace played on loan with Championship campaigners Hull City and was a regular for the Tigers during their matches.

Aina, who prefers playing as a right back will now continue his development with Serie A side Torino, on loan from Chelsea.

Speaking with club’s YouTube page after he was unveiled by Torino, Aina revealed that he was attracted to the Serie A club, because of their love for young players.

“Torino believes in young people,” even as he was quick to add that he likes the club’s jersey.

“I like the Shirt a lot and I think the color suits me,” he said.

“Turin has been following me for some time, I hope to do well; I know this is a club that believes in young people and this is very important,” Aina said.

“In Italy, I know that I can learn a lot, especially in the ability to be in the field, because the tactics and organization of play are essential.

“I really want to experience this new experience to the full, thanks to all the Taurus for choosing me: now it’s my turn, I cannot wait to get started,” submitted Aina who will wear No. 34 jersey at Turin.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is linked with Turkish Super Lig club Bursaspor who are set to face major competition from Spain in the race to sign the Nigeria international.

The Green Crocodiles have been closely linked with a move for the Super Eagles center-back over the past month and Bursaspor vice-president has confirmed the clubs interest in Omeruo.

However, the Spanish new media outlet AS has stated that the La Liga club Leganes are leading the race to sign 24-year-old this summer.
