2019 elections: APC presidential candidate to emerge October 6

- The primary election to pick the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled to hold on October 6, 2018

- The ruling party would hold primary election for the Senate on September 23 and governorship primaries on September 28

- The APC however, did not state whether it would be direct or indirect primaries

Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is to emerge at the primary election scheduled to hold on October 6, 2018.

NAIJ.com gathered that according to a statement issued by the party on Tuesday, August 14, primary election for the party’s tickets for state House of Assembly will hold on September 15 while that of the House of Representatives would hold on September 19.

Similarly the primary election for the Senate would hold on September 23 while governorship primaries would hold on September 28.

The party’s statement, however, did not state the modus for the elections whether it would be direct or indirect primaries.

Asides from President Muhammadu Buhari who is the frontrunner in the race for the APC presidential ticket.

There at least four party members bidding for the party’s presidential ticket with Buhari. They are Adamu Garba II, CEO of IPI Solutions, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, Chairman of Texas Energy Corporation; Chief Udo Udeogaranya, a seasoned politician, and Alhaji Mumakai Unagha, a lawyer and Second Republic political youth leader.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the presidency on Monday, August 13, said Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, would still remain the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The presidential spokesman said the victories recorded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the legislative elections held in three states over the weekend were indications that victory is certain for the Buhari/Osinbajo presidential ticket in 2019.
