- Buffon sends important message after joining Juventus in a mega deal this summer

- The 40-year-old joined the Parisians after failing to win the Champions League with the Old Lady

- He has however charged the Portugal international to bring European glory to the club

Paris Saint Germain summer signing Gianluigi Buffon is delighted with Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus this summer.

The 40-year-old is hoping the Portugal international will bring Champions League glory to the Turin based outfit.

Buffon, who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup title ended his 17-year reign at Juve before joining PSG at the end of last season.

His departure from the club saw them land the former Manchester United star in an £88 million deal from Real Madrid.

However, despite leaving the Old Lady, Buffon still clearly feels affection for his former team as he wished them - and Ronaldo - well.

Ronaldo inspired Real to 4-1 triumph over Juve in the final of the 2017 UEFA Champions League at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

After winning the 2018 edition, the 33-year-old became the first player with the most UCL titles (5) after leading Los Blancos to three successive UEFA elite club championship title.

Meanwhile, Buffon believes Juve can go ahead and win the title they have missed in their last three attempts if their new star plays as well as he did at the Bernabeu.

"I hope Ronaldo can give what he's given for all the teams he played in,' the veteran goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.

"Certainly he won't give Juventus the sorrows he's given us in recent years. Juventus can't spring any surprises: they have a skilled board and president, plus their history, team and fans are so great that if it they don't win, they go close."

NAIJ.com previously reported that Gianluigi Buffon joined Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend.

The 40-year-old left Juventus at the end of last season after 17 long years and is poised to sign a two-year deal with the moneybags.

As a result, either Kevin Trapp or Alphonse Areola are expected to depart the club, with the veteran goalkeeper set to become first choice between the sticks.
