World football governing body (FIFA) have given Nigeria the final deadline of August 20, 2018, for them to settle the current tussle for power at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) or face suspension from football.
The current tussle for power at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) office in Abuja is between Amaju Pinnick and Christopher Giwa in which FIFA have now made it clear that Amaju is the recognized Nigerian football chief.
Amaju Pinnick was elected as NFF president in Warri on September 30, 2014, but before that election, there was also an election in Abuja where Chris Giwa emerged winner.
But the result of the election was rejected then by FIFA who claimed that majority of the FA chiefs in Nigeria were not present to vote.
And since Amaju won the second election in Warri where all FA chiefs were present, Chris Giwa took the matter to court, and until this moment, final judgement has not been passed.
According to the latest on the FIFA website, the football governing body ordered that the NFF offices must be given back to Amaju Pinnick and Secretary Mohamed Sanusi before Monday, August 20.
Failure for these men to return to office will bring an immediate ban on Nigeria from all football matters.
FIFA also made it clear that should the suspension of the NFF takes effect, the Nigerian team currently competing in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cupin France 2018 will still be allowed to continue to participate in the tournament on an exceptional basis given that the tournament is underway.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Amaju Pinnick who is the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was told by the Federal Government to step down from his current position as Nigeria's football chief.
This is according to a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is under current Nigeria's Sports Minister Solomon Dalung.
The statement from the Ministry of Sports restored the orders of the Federal High Court setting aside the election into the Executive Committee of the NFF held on September 30, 2014 which brought in Amaju Pinnick.
