The Nigerian Army suffered fresh casualties during a recent fight against members of Boko Haram terrorist group in Yobe state as unconfirmed number of soldiers were killed in an ambush launched by the terrorists against troops over the weekend.
The soldiers in the Yobe attack, drawn from the 233 Battalion in Operation Lafiya Dole, were said to have suffered the loss while countering an ambush staged by elements of Boko Haram terrorists.
Recall that NAIJ.com earlier reported that the troops, on the other hand, killed scores of the terrorists during an encounter along Sasawa Road in Babangida local government area of Yobe state.
The sect also killed no fewer than 18 persons in an attack in the Lake Chad region, according to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, which quoted a Chadian military source.

The terrorists, who sources said ran short of food and were in the area to loot foodstuff from the popular Babangida Market, got wind of advancement of the troops towards the area and decided to ambush them first.
The Nigerian Army, which confirmed the development in a late night statement by its spokesman, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, however, did not state the number of casualties on its part, even as it claimed that several Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised during the encounter.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 18 persons were killed in an attack by Boko Haram insurgents in the Lake Chad region, NAN quoted a Chadian military source as saying weekend.

“Boko Haram elements attacked a village south of Daboua, not far from Chad’s border with Niger, at around 9pm on Thursday,” the military source said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai says there is no going back in operations to rid the north-east of remnants of terrorists, and charged troops to remain focused.
Addressing troops of 21 Brigade in Bama local government area of Borno on Thursday, July 19, Buratai assured them that remnants of the terrorists no longer pose any serious threat to them or the people.
