A faction of the ruling party, the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is promising its members heaven and earth in a bid to get them to return to its fold.
The Cable reported on Sunday, July 22, that the spokesperson for the new faction, Kazeem Afegbua, in a statement, alleged that the APC was dangling juicy carrots to R-APC members in order to dissuade them from defecting.

Afegbua stated that President Muhammadu Buhari has held reconciliation meetings with the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, reportedly promising mouth-watering offers after.
The faction said those in the APC who boasted that they would not lose sleep over the R-APC had become sleepless in the last two weeks.
The R-APC, however, told its members that it was still maintaining its stand against the APC, adding that no amount of carrots, intimidation and harassment can dissuade it from its plan to rescue Nigeria’s democracy.

Meanwhile, moves by President Muhammadu Buhari and APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole have reportedly temporarily slowed down the planned mass defection of members of the ruling party’s faction the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC).
The Nation reports that meetings between Buhari, vice president Osinbajo and Oshiomhole with some influential leaders of the group may have stalled the plans.
The newspaper quotes R-APC sources as saying that peace moves of the presidency and APC leadership in the last few days have slowed things down.
