- Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Leicester defender Harry Maguire

- Manchester United are considering a £65m bid for the highly-improved England defender

- Mourinho need to offload 1 player from Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly or Chris Smalling

Manchester United Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho is considering tabling a £65million offer for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

According to a UK Daily Mail report the Red Devils boss needs to add a domineering centre-back to his team this summer but must offload one from the trio of Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling to be able to achieve his aim.

The report further added that the Foxes are already plotting to increase Maguire's wages to around £75,000 with a move to pin him down for another campaign in the English topflight as they are weary he is likely to move elsewhere.

Leicester boss Claude Puel has commenced behind the scene moves for potential replacement with the likes of Barcelona's Yerry Mina and Chelsea’s Gary Cahill on his wish list.

Maguire who joined the Foxes for £17m after Hull City was relegated from the Premier League last year has seen his value after a decent show at the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia.

England’s Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate is believed to have opted for Maguire because of his mental alertness which will no doubt prove handy for the big occasion if he eventually makes the switch to Old Trafford.

The Foxes ace is expected to replace Phil Jones or Smalling in Mourinho's starting 11, as he has done with the Three Lions.

However, one major snag is that the summer transfer window is scheduled to close on August 9, when Three Lions squad members to the summer World Cup will be returning from their extended vacation.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Mourinho has revealed that the following four defenders that include Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Shaw will likely tackle Leicester in their first fixture of the new Premier League campaign.

According to a UK Sun report, the Red Devils squad members are currently on tour of the United States of America with a mixed blend of experienced stars who did not play any role at the 2018 World Cup as well as youngsters that include the trio of Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and RoShaun Williams.

The Portuguese was on the sidelines as the Red Devils battled Club America to a 1-1 draw in the early hours of Friday and the ex-Chelsea boss was quick to declare that his defence line for the August 10 Premier League opener against Leicester is ready.
