Super Eagles superstar joins Portuguese League champions FC Porto this summer

- Super Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali has joined FC Porto on loan from Arsenal this summer

- The 20-year-old will have a chance to make his deal permanent at the end of the season owing to his performance

- He signed a five year deal with the Gunners in 2016 after leading Nigeria's U17 team to FIFA World Cup a year before

Portuguese League champions FC Porto have completed the signing of Super Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali on a season long loan deal.

The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner joined Arsenal in 2016, but has spent the last two seasons on loan at MVV Maastricht and VVV-Venlo.

He scored once in nine appearances for Venlo in his last spell in the Netherlands topflight.

However, he now spend the next season at Porto with a chance to make his deal permanent at the end of 2018-19 season depending on his performance at the club.

Having completed the loan move, Nwakali told FC Porto's official webisite: "My main goal is to develop and evolve as a player, to improve my qualities and the other aspects that I know I need to correct to grow in the way I play.

"I think FC Porto is the right place to evolve as a player."

The Gunners youngster is already dreaming of meeting one of the club's living legends Deco to recount how impactful he was to his career.

"I know Porto very well, because one of my idols in football played here: Deco. He was a player that I loved to watch and I hope one day being able to meet him and tell him the importance he had in my desire to be a football player."

His contract with premier League outfit expires in the summer of 2021 after joining them in 2016.

He was impressive for the Super Eagles when he made his debut for the country's senior national team in their friendly encounter against Atletico Madrid in May where the Europa League champions narrowly edged the Eagles out 3-2.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Premier League side Arsenal sent Nigeria U20 skipper Kelechi Nwakali overseas on loan, AfricanFootball.com reports.

The youngster turned 18 last month and he will sign a five-year professional contract with the Gunners.

Nwakali will be part of the U-20 Flying Eagles team that will be hoping to qualify for next year’s U20 AFCON later this month.
