With Blind in action, Holland’s Oranje Boys progressed to the semi-finals of that tournament with Louis van Gaal at the helms of affairs, but later switched base to Old Trafford and made Daley one of his first signings.

At the last count, Blind spent four seasons in the English topflight with 141 appearances as well as netting six times for Manchester United.

In total, the Dutch international claimed four trophies that began with the Emirates FA Cup in 2016 when he played every minute of Manchester United’s 2-1 extra-time win over Crystal Palace at London’s Wembley Stadium.

In addition, the 28-year-old also enjoyed another success with the Red Devils in the FA Community Shield victory over Leicester City in August before the Old Trafford side’s League Cup triumph against Southampton in February 2017.

However, the defender’s best moment for the Manchester United remain winning the UEFA Europa League over Ajax in an emotional night in Sweden’s capital city where his display alongside Chris Smalling ensured the Red Devils’ defence line was not bridged during the final encounter.

During his last campaign for Manchester United in the 2017/18 season, Blind made 17 appearances across all competition as he returns to familiar ground at Amsterdam.
