Kayode Fayemi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing Ekiti state governorship election, voted easily on Saturday, July 14, while his wife, Erelu Bisi had found it difficult to cast her vote.
According to Sahara Reporter, Fayemi, Erelu Bisi was unable vote at Ward 11 Unit 09, Isan Ekiti, as the card reader could not read her Permanent Voter Card (PVC).
Fayemi, who cast his vote at 10:23am, said officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were working on the issue.

“My wife’s card did not register for some reasons, but the INEC officials are sorting it out.That is a very important vote I don’t want to lose for any reason. Her vote must count. Her name is on the register, so there is no issue of impersonation. This is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice in it.
“I have just voted in my unit in Ishan Ekiti. It is relatively peaceful and smooth. My card was recognised and I was accredited.

“The turnout is huge in my community. Everyone conducted themselves in proper manner in order not to be disenfranchised.
“I have heard news of skirmishes and card reader problems, but there is relative peace in many places. It is too early to judge now.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that The governorship candidate of the PDP, Olusola Kolapo Eleka cast his vote after few hours of card reader glitch.
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)'s card reader had initially failed to read Eleka's Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
The Ekiti residents are trooping out in their large numbers to cast their vote for their preferred candidates in today's make or mar governorship election.
