Premier League side Liverpool have tabled a £17.5m deal for Croatia’s hard tackling defender Domagoj Vida, reports suggest.

According to UK Mirror report quoting sources in Turkey, the Anfield dwellers have made their intention known as they are eager to bring the Besiktas stopper to the English topflight.

The Croatian international has been on top of his game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia alongside Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, helping the East European nation progress to their first final.

The Reds previously tabled a reported deal of £15.9m which was rejected by the Turkish side but have returned with a new bid.

However, Besiktas will look out for about £30m offer as Vida recently joined from Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kiev in January.

The report further noted that eggheads of Turkish Super Lig side will not stand in Vida’s way if a good offer arrives this summer.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that ex-Flying Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi is set pen an extension with Liverpool, despite offers from top Europe’s clubs.

According to the Reds' official website clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester City as well as Tottenham have all declared their interest on the 20-year-old who is expected to seal an extension to his present deal with the Kop side.

However, the inability to secure the mandatory work permit remains the stumbling block why the Nigerian youth international will still remain out of Anfield for another loan move.
